In the study which Jon Snow (a scientist who took cannabis while taking part in the show) and others took part, They are comparing the effects of two different types of cannabis. Safer than meth ?? Who knows what ya find on the net .... A new study  published in Scientific Reports, a subsidiary of the journal Nature, which sought to quantify the risk of death associated with the use of various intoxicating substances, has found however that marijuana is far and away the safest drug. It's at the bottom of the list by some distance, and is also the only drug that poses a low mortality risk to users. Study: Marijuana Effective In Treating Depression

Depression is bad alone then we have the illegal weed , illegality makes it worse on the users as they get stressed over cost and strength etc. Its time to unwind these laws break the chains, free the weed Source" theweedblog A study was recently released which found that marijuana can be an effective treatment for depression. Marijuana of course doesn’t cause the side effects that pharmaceuticals do. Per the Huffington Post : Neuroscientists from the University of Buffalo’s Research Institute on Addictions found that endocannabinoids — chemical compounds in the brain that activate the same receptors as THC, an active compound in marijuana — may be helpful in treating depression that results from chronic stress. In studies on rats, the researchers found that chronic stress reduced the production of endocannabinoids, which affect our cognition, emotion and behavior, and have been linked to reduced feelings of pain and anxiety, increases in appetite and overall feelings o

Study shows marijuana’s long-term effects on the brain

The effects of chronic marijuana use on the brain may depend on age of first use and duration of use, according to researchers at the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas. In a paper published today in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), researchers for the first time comprehensively describe existing abnormalities in brain function and structure of long-term marijuana users with multiple magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques. Findings show chronic marijuana users have smaller brain volume in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), a part of the brain commonly associated with addiction, but also increased brain connectivity. “We have seen a steady increase in the incidence of marijuana use since 2007,“said Dr. Francesca Filbey , Associate Professor in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas and Director of the Cognitive Neuroscience Research in Addictive Disorders at the Center for BrainHealth

A new study on college students has linked marijuana use with better performance on certain brain-related tasks.

Well different strokes for different folks , I feel Cannabis can be a good or bad depending on the sole user, If the right strain I feel yes it can hugely improve our lifes , but say for example illegal weed (its everywhere) that stuff be so strong you have no idea how its gonna hit ya. Best to take some precautions grow a strain recommended for you & keep educating yourself The truth is out there , its time to repeal Cannabis laws. check out a study below on Cannabis use an our overall performances This study comprehensively measured cognitive ability as well as comorbid psychopathology and substance use history to determine the neurocognitive profile associated with young adult marijuana use. College-aged marijuana users who initiated use prior to age 17 ( n = 35) were compared to demographically matched controls ( n = 35). Results: Marijuana users were high functioning, demonstrating comparable IQs to controls and relatively better processing speed. Marijuana users

US Government Says Cannabis Is A Neuroprotectant Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants US 6630507 B1 Abstract Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.
